Jorah Mormont

Son of Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, Jorah inherited Bear Island and its iron customs — and threw it away by selling poachers to slavers to keep a southron wife in silks. Eddard Stark's sentence was the law of the Seven Kingdoms: exile, with his father's shame folded into his.

He sold his sword in Essos and his advice to the last Targaryen, hiring himself first to Viserys and then to Daenerys as protector, counsellor and secret informer. He loved her for years and betrayed her for a pardon, and spent the rest of his life paying for both — greyscale stripped from his arm by Samwell Tarly, and no quiet home found after it.

He died at Winterfell, holding the godswood gate against the dead while Daenerys fought above him — the exile's last watch, kept for the woman he had wronged and never stopped serving.
