Lore
Only daughter of Mace Tyrell and granddaughter of Olenna, Margaery was raised on the belief that Highgarden deserved better than second place β and taught by her grandmother that a crown is won among the smallfolk as much as in the council chamber. She fed the hungry of King's Landing before she ever wore its crown, and was loved for it.
She married Renly Baratheon in a union that was never consummated, then Joffrey in a wedding that ended in strangler and tears, then Tommen in a wedding that made her the power behind a boy-king. Each time she entered the court a stranger and left it its most popular woman β which is exactly why Cersei could not leave her alive.
She survived her enemies' courts but not their plot: the trial called by the Faith Militant killed her, Tommen and most of her house in the fire that took the Great Sept of Baelor. The rose was cut in the moment it was about to bloom over the throne.
