Lore
Arrax was a young pearl-white dragon with golden eyes and a golden chest, and the mount of Prince Lucerys Velaryon, second son of Rhaenyra Targaryen. Small for his age but quick and eager, Arrax had never been in a battle when his father's succession was stolen — and his first battle was to be his last.
In 129 AC Lucerys rode Arrax through a gathering storm to Storm's End, carrying Rhaenyra's message to Lord Borros Baratheon. The errand was a feint of politics rather than war, but Aemond One-Eye was waiting: ahead of the castle gates he came after them on Vhagar, the largest dragon in the world, against a boy on a hatchling-grown dragon.
Over Shipbreaker Bay, in wind and rain and lightning, Lucerys turned to fight. Arrax dodged Vhagar's flame and struck back, but the storm-slick air gave no room to run; Vhagar's jaws closed on the young dragon out of the dark, and Arrax and his rider fell together into the sea. It was the first dragon-killing of the Dance, and it made the war inevitable.
