Lore
The younger Stark daughter wanted a sword, not a sept, and got her way: Syrio Forel taught her water dancing in King's Landing, and she was on the road with Yoren of the Night's Watch when her father died. From the Riverlands to Harrenhal to a Braavosi ship, Arya learned how small a highborn girl is without a name — and how useful it is to have none.
In Braavos she trained with the Faceless Men in the House of Black and White, learning to change her face and empty herself of self. She could not finish the work: a girl can be no one for only so long while she keeps a list of the people who wronged her family, and every name on it was spoken like a prayer.
She came home to Winterfell and ended the Long Night in the godswood with a Valyrian steel dagger, then sailed west of Westeros when it was done — the Stark who went furthest, came back most changed, and stayed a Stark anyway.
