Lore
Second son of Eddard Stark, Bran was pushed from a tower window at eight for seeing what he should not — Cersei and Jaime Lannister's secret — and woke to a life without walking. The fall was the first of many deaths: he survived assassination attempts, the sack of Winterfell, and the long road north beyond the Wall, where the Three-Eyed Crow taught him to open the weirwood's eye.
In the cave beyond the Wall he learned to move through time in the roots of the world, to look on the past as it was lived, and to become in the end not Bran but the memory of the world itself — greenseer, raven, and keeper of every wrong ever done to the living.
He came back to Winterfell as its shield in the Long Night, standing unarmed in the godswood as bait so the Night King could be ended at last. Whether his story finishes as the singers tell it — a crown offered to the boy who cannot want it — the books have yet to say.
