Lore
Tyraxes hatched between 117 and 120 AC for Prince Joffrey Velaryon, the youngest of Queen Rhaenyra's sons by Laenor Velaryon. Described by those who saw him as a pale violet dragon with dark purple horns and purple flame, he was the smallest of the Velaryon brothers' mounts and the least tested — a young beast who never knew a battlefield.
Because of his size and youth, Tyraxes was always kept within the walls: chained in his lair in the Dragonpit at King's Landing while the war raged beyond the city. That chain, meant to keep him safe, became the instrument of his death.
When the Shepherd's mob stormed the Dragonpit in 130 AC, Tyraxes burned the front of his lair full of bodies until the entrance was a wall of corpses. But the crowd broke through the back door of the vault, and in the dark the young dragon, tangled in his own chains, could not turn on them — the mob slew him there. Of the five dragons that died beneath the burning dome, Tyraxes was one.
