Lore
Fourth child of Viserys I and Alicent, Aemond was the last of the royal children without a dragon while his nephews and nieces rode. At Laena Velaryon's funeral on Driftmark he slipped away in the night and mounted Vhagar, the oldest living dragon and a witness to Aegon's Conquest. When the Velaryon boys tried to stop him he fought them all, and lost his left eye to Lucerys's dagger — a wound that gave him his name and his fury.
In 129 AC he killed Lucerys and Arrax in the skies outside Storm's End, the first open murder of the Dance and the act that made it a war without restraint. At Rook's Rest he helped kill Rhaenys and Meleys, though the battle ruined Sunfyre and left Aegon a cripple. From then on Aemond ruled as prince regent, answering Blood and Cheese by harrying the Riverlands with Vhagar and burning town and field alike.
He died in 130 AC above the Gods Eye, in a duel with Daemon Targaryen that brought Vhagar and Caraxes down together into the lake. The two greatest dragons of the age perished with their riders, and the war's heaviest sword was broken.
