Lore
Eldest daughter of Viserys I and Alicent, Helaena was her father's favourite child and the quietest of her mother's brood. She married her brother Aegon as the Greens planned and bore him twins, Jaehaera and Jaehaerys, and a younger son, Maelor. Unlike nearly everyone around her she was loved rather than feared: the smallfolk adored their queen, and the small odd things she said were taken for harmless prophecy.
In 130 AC, after Rhaenyra took the city, two hired knives β Blood and Cheese β came to the queen's apartments looking for her son. Helaena could not bring herself to point out which of the boys was the prince, so they killed the elder, Jaehaerys, while she held her daughter back. The murder broke her: she stopped singing, stopped smiling, and her grief turned the capital's affection for the Greens into open riot.
That same year she fell β or jumped β from the walls of Maegor's Holdfast. Her death set the city alight; the crowds blamed Queen Rhaenyra, and the Blacks' hold on King's Landing never hardened again. Helaena never led a host or ruled a council, but few deaths did more to decide the war.
